Clair Obscur Sweeps at the 2025's Gaming Honors
The forty-third yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded this past week, and through an impressive performance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the most decorated winner. The standout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive won the prestigious Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Best Storytelling and Best Visual Design.
Complementing the developer's triumph, its talented cast also garnered personal awards. Jennifer English received Outstanding Lead Performance for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Best Supporting Performer for his acting as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive the studio was named Top Studio. In total, Clair Obscur and its creative team achieved seven awards during the show.
Other notable winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which received Top Sound Design and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Outstanding Independent Game and Premier PC Title. Notably, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are voted on by the public, with only 4 awards—Critics Choice, Rising Star, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamers’ Choice—decided by experts.
